One of my long-time clients was the English Springer Spaniel Club of Long Island – Rescue, or ESSCLI-R for short. This rescue group is where two of my dogs found their forever homes with me. As fate would have it, ESSCLI-R was in need of a web developer and artist to take charge of their website. I was more than delighted to offer my services! In addition to maintaining their website, I also had the pleasure of creating dog calendars for their annual Christmas fundraiser.
After 35 years of which I spent 15 years as their web developer and artist, ESSCLI-R sadly had to cease its operations. Instead of merely witnessing the end of an era, I decided to salvage what I could. I offered to take over their website and domain name— SpringerSpaniel.org— to ensure it didn’t fade away. ESSCLI-R generously agreed and had its attorney transfer the website and domain ownership to me. My goal is to transform the website into a comprehensive hub of information dedicated to all things English Springer Spaniel. It will serve as a valuable resource for anyone seeking information about this breed. I’m genuinely excited about the potential impact!
In addition to writing posts, I brainstormed several logo ideas and narrowed them down to two. See below. Seeking an expert opinion, I reached out to one of the former ESSCLI-R officers, who had served as the organization’s director/coordinator and handled adoption and fostering. With her wealth of experience—having interacted with hundreds of Springers—she shared her valuable opinion with me. The first option resonated well with her; she felt it best represents the average Springer Spaniel. She thought the second option was very nice, however, it portrays a show Springer Spaniel which usually has longer and groomed ears. That didn’t align with the image I wanted the website to convey, so I agreed with her.
Despite seemingly perpetually being short on time, I’m plunging into this project, guided by the mantra “slowly but surely.” The prospect of creating a go-to platform for English Springer Spaniel owners and enthusiasts keeps me motivated. I hope to launch it sometime in the late 2024, although please don’t hold it against me.
Need a website rescue? (I rescued DeafCoffee.com too! See a post about that.) Or a logo created just for you? You’re welcome to contact me.
